THE COLLECT FOR THE THIRD SUNDAY BEFORE LENT: Almighty God, who alone can bring order to the unruly wills and passions of sinful humanity: give your people grace so to love what you command and to desire what you promise, that, among the many changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

GENERAL NOTICES:

BUILDING EXTENSION - UPDATE: Important milestones will be passed shortly as, following the granting of planning permission for the scheme in May 2011, eight months of painstaking work is now complete in detailing the specification for the new building and associated garden area; and the land needed for the building has been purchased from Gresham's School. This means that we can now submit an application for a Faculty to proceed with the work and this will be considered at a meeting of the Diocesan Advisory Committee on 26 th January. We can also now invite tenders from the five contractors we have selected, to be returned in mid February. Following this we will review our funding position and make plans for building work to commence, hopefully during April. Glyn Purland for the PCC

REDECORATION OF THE PARISH CHURCH HALL: As chairman of the Church Hall Management Committee, I would sincerely like to thank all the members of the congregation who enthusiastically re-decorated the hall over several days. It was a real team effort led by Philip and Gill Murrell. A special thank you to Jill Holding for providing a fabulous lunch each day. The result of this hard work has saved the PCC several thousands pounds. Rodney Dyble.
